Commencing some time in Term 3, all students in Years 1 – 6 will be participating in Morning Fitness on some of the school days. Timetabling of the morning events, as well as specialised teachers lessons, will be finalised over the next few weeks and will be advertised to the community as soon as the logistics have been finalised. We’re all looking forward to the Zumba and aerobic session to be held during the term.
After much consideration and discussion by the staff, the suggestion of staggered recess and lunch times for students in Year 1-3 and 4-6, has been brought forward and will commence in Term 3 this year. At this point in time the logistics of coordinating the staggered times, teacher timetables, duty rosters, etc have not been finalised, due to the complexity, but will be organised over the next few weeks. All parents will be notified of the changes as soon as they have been finalised.
A reminder to all families our community mass has been scheduled for this Saturday, commencing at 6.00pm in the parish church. It is also the commitment mass for Years 3 and 6 students as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Confirmation. I would love to see many families attend the celebration on Saturday.
During the second week of the school holidays, I attended a two day professional learning occasion with a visiting Jesuit priest from the Bronx in the US, Fr. Thomas J. Scirghi. It was an incredible two days listening to Fr Thomas and his experiences in the Bronx as a Jesuit Priest. We also discussed how we could become better servant leaders in our profession, as well as setting aside time for ourselves to recharge our batteries, physically, emotionally and more importantly spiritually and taking the time to be more reflective.
